On behalf of The Salvation Academy and its Board of Directors, we are pleased to welcome you to our education to career programs. As you read through this web site, you learn how the Academy, in partnership with other higher education associations, have given hope to thousands by working determinedly to lay the foundations that will ensure access to training and success in employment for years to come, despite the fiscal turmoil that plagues our economy. At no other time in history have educational institutions struggled to adjust to an economic downturn of this magnitude. Schools around the country have witnessed decreasing endowments, student enrollment, financial aid, and market share of international students. Simultaneously, the rapid advances in technology and shifting demographics have added to the unique challenges facing school leaders.
Providing education and employment opportunities is central to a thriving, stable economy, which is why Salvation Academy has focused on increasing access to job training and employment opportunities for those we serve.
Our students/clients deserve our undivided attention; progress must not be deterred because of the difficulties and challenges facing our country and other nations of the world. With a unified effort in the recovery process, Salvation Academy is committed to moving job training and employment services forward and will continue to do so for many years to come.
We believe the future is bright and we appreciate the support of our local, state and federal government, and sponsors for their engagement with the Salvation Academy.

SALVATION ACADEMY is a 501 (c) 3 Not-For-Profit organization, established on March 13, 2006, in Alexandria, Virginia, by Brima Bob Deen, with a focus on education-to-career training for all people, including the educationally disadvantaged, unemployed, and the underserved in our communities. Mr. Deen brings with him his experience in establishing the refugee school, Institute of Professional Administration and Management IPAM-Gambia, in 1999 while he was a refugee in Gambia. Out of his experience as a refugee, educational background, teaching experience, and life skills, Mr. Deen developed his vision for the Salvation Academy in Alexandria, Virginia. With his solid history of producing results within a limited budget, Mr. Deen took on the challenge of bringing qualified professionals to head the different divisions of the Academy. The Academy, in partnership with affiliated employers, has given hope to hundreds of students, laying the foundations that will ensure access to training and success in employment for years to come. In 2007, the Academy graduated fifteen students in basic computer training, giving those students skills that increased their chances of employment. In 2008, the number of students increased to forty-five. Due to the increase in demand for our services in 2008 to 2010, the Academy added Nursing and Allied Health education programs (for example, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Medical Assistant) to the Information Technology program already in existence. These programs have further increased the number of students, as well as supplying much-needed health care professionals to our communities. The addition of our GED preparation and testing program along with training for security professionals has further expanded our offerings.
